About tonight's class (Feb 4th)

Quick note about tonight's class... don't worry, no baby yet! :-)

BUT, I have to go to a shoot tonight at Boston College, so class will end early tonight.  We'll go straight through to look at your sequences, no break, and then end right around 8.

I aspire to get into the lab early, so anyone that is there and needs to load content up onto the presentation station can do so. I'll set up a folder so you can drag any files off of USB, Dropbox, CD, what have you.

Sorry about the short notice, but I just found out about this shoot myself.

Assignment 2 again

i knwo i posted assignment 2 already. that was fun pics but not really related with first assinment. my first assinment showed in class was "romantic". so i piced again and redid the assinment 2

Sunsets in the city

I made a video of pictures I took of sunsets from locations in Roxbury and Dorchester. Figuring out imovie took some time but once I got the hang of it I enjoyed putting the pictures together with music. The song I chose is one of my favorite songs"Everybody Loves the Sunshine" produced by the talented Roy Ayers in 1976. As a young graphic designer I chose to name my free-lance company shine graffix (which has since been changed to shine graphic design co.) because I love sunny days and the sun always gives me energy (of course when it's not too hot). Anyways I decided to take pictures of sunsets because they are so beautiful and the colors are breathtaking on a good day. When I took pictures of the sun setting through trees it adds a really cool abstreact element. I would like to expand this project in the furture use some of these pictures to brand my company shine graphic design co. and hopefully make a nice book. Some of the piture's colors came out perfect but some did not come out how I saw it in plain view but none the less the pictures are nice. I will definitly learn how to capture colors better with my camera so this won't be a problem in the future.

Time Sequence Project (#1)

For this project I decided to do a miniature version of a 3-D art installation. It's just a prototype and I envision the actual pieces to be produced life-sized (larger than a human) being. The materials would consist of large vinyl panels and hollow so each piece would be light enough to be moved/shifted.

The theme of this assignment was "transformation" so I was inspired to carry that theme into the execution of the piece as well. So I decided to go for a modular art piece where each of the 8 different triangle components could be moved and shifted around to create a new experience each time it is viewed (theoretically in a large art space).

Alice in the Snow

I was planning on putting the same text captions into my audio slideshow as I'd put in my flickr album. But, when I got the music put in, I decided the captions didn't really fit with the new mood.

I started with fade-to-white transitions, thinking it would match the snow theme, but I didn't like the result about half of the time. The cross-dissolve transitions seem kind of standard, but I liked them much better.

Also, adding the music, I heard places where the tempo or slight changes fit better with one photo or another. So, I did a lot of editing after adding audio to match up images like Alice scratching at the door and the insistent notes of the song.

Note: I found working with the transitions in iMovie to be very frustrating. After adding transitions, any time I'd make a change to the length of an image or length of a transition, EVERYTHING around it would change. Annoying.

A Journey Through Time in a Book

I decided to express "transformation" as a journey from the beginning to the end of a book. Additionally, this image also shows the transformation of language from the Old English text to a modern translation.
