Coke

COKE

“Fucking change or don’t come back!” a young women screams from her door to her boyfriend who leaves. A man, Dan, is in his early twenties, short red hair, thin, yet slightly muscular. He might seem like your typical young kid, no direction, no job, and maybe soon, no girlfriend. His girlfriend has a nine to five job, and also goes to local undergrad school part time. He steals from her regularly to feed into his addiction. She knows this and wants to end the relationship if he doesn’t stop soon. He parties all day with friends and comes home to her usually wasted.

This day is different. He seems despondent, he starts to realize he doesn’t want this life any more. He knows that he really loves this girl and would do anything for her. He starts to really struggle with his addiction. However, he is afraid to be left alone, lose all of his friends, lose the only life he has ever known. He goes to a party and has a hard time, torn between doing drugs or not. He gives into temptation. This is done as a quick montage, a lot of editing.

Dan finally decides to go home, go home to what ever he may face. He lets himself in, goes to his girlfriend who is sleeping and whispers, “I promise I'll change.” You see him look at the dusty bible on his night stand. He grabs it, opens it to a page that seemed right. He finds a small bag of coke, that he had forgotten about. The camera focuses on his face, and then to the bag. He clenches it. His girlfriend's eyes open, she lets out a gasp of air...fades to black.

The whole movie is done as a montage. A lot of quick cuts, fast paced, like a drug trip.
